National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)

I spent over a month in the high mountains and valley floors of Patagonia, Chile. With the National Outdoor Leadership Schools (NOLS), we summited unknown peaks together and endured weather and life lessons alike. I created this film to remember a nugget of wisdom from a fellow mountaineer, François, that embodies the 96 miles and 20,700 feet of elevation gain we traversed.

We wore the same shirt and pants for a month. We saw only each other. Anything we wanted, we carried on our backs in packs expanding to 100 liters.

Among the necessary items of shelter, food, and water, we each brought an item we couldn’t live without — small bundle of joy worth its weight.

What would you bring?
